In our recent work with Prof. Mathieu Salanne (Sorbonne Université & Institut Universitaire de France) , we present an unusual case of pseudocapacitance in which TM intercalant contributes to charge storage and tunes the properties of MXenes. Congratulations, Shianlin, who led this study!

Our work on Photoacids for long-term use was published on the front cover of Chemistry of Materials: "Solvation-Tuned Photoacid as a Stable Light-Driven pH Switch for CO2 Capture and Release". An organic co-solvent enhances stability and solubility, unleashing prolonged applications like light-driven CO2 capture.

Anna's and Sonja's poster "Sunlight-driven CO2 Capture-Release Cycles by Photoacids with Enhanced Stability and Solubility in Binary Solvent Mixtures" won the BASF Sustainability Poster prize during the Materials & Processes (MaP) Graduate symposium at ETH Zurich. The symposium aims to connect researchers in Materials and Processes, especially at the graduate student level, in order to facilitate knowledge exchange and to enhance cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Anna won the innosuisse startup campus award and 2nd best pitch award during the innosuisse startup campus business concept course. The course was a 12-week accelaration program to learn how to turn an idea into a promising startup. After a pitch to a jury of investors, the best ideas are awarded with the startup campus award.

Our group will be studying how supercapacitor modules can be effectively paired with batteries to increase and predict the operation lifetimes of energy storage modules under different usage scenarios that energy storage devices are expected to experience when incorporated into micro-grids.
